Christopher Ray “Whammy” Tackett, 46, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 in Ashland.
He was born on September 2, 1971 in Boyd County, Kentucky, a son of Timothy Ray Tackett and Joy Horton Tackett.
Christopher was an electrical lineman for Highline Services and he had previously worked for Pike Electric for 20 years.
He was a 1989 graduate of Boyd County High School and he attended the Heritage Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed dirt track racing, fishing and he liked to do mechanic work.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Timothy Ray Tackett, Jr. and Jonathan Joe Tackett, his maternal grandparents, James Monroe “Roe” Horton, Jr. and Ruth Evans Horton and his paternal grandparents, Glenmore and Vivian Greenhill Tackett.
Survivors include his parents, Timothy Ray Tackett and Joy Horton Tackett of Ashland, two sons, Cody Ray Tackett and Corey Ryan Tackett both of Catlettsburg, one daughter, Cayla Renee Wilburn (Dwayne) of Catlettsburg, his fiancé, Beth Murphy of Catlettsburg, the mother of his children, Christy Tackett of Catlettsburg and several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was expecting his first grandchild in March.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Heritage Freewill Baptist Church in Ashland with Rev. Ed Cook officiating.
Burial will follow in the McFerren Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Thursday and anytime Friday at the Heritage Freewill Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Cody Tackett, Corey Tackett, Dwayne Wilburn, Marty Horton, Randy Earl and Dave Earl.
